The world is still here despite the attack on Syria last weekend. Here is why;
The US , Great Britain and France were extremely disciplined and accurate in targeting only NON Russian sites.
No Russian military assets or personnel were accidentally attacked or killed.
All attacks worked without any hiccups, IE Russia was notified via the deconfliction hotlline and fortunately for the world, the Russian military did not respond, ONLY the Syrian military attempted shooting down incoming missiles.
Had any of the above gone differently – very few of us would have survived and the few that did would inhabit a living hell of destruction.
There is a glimmer of hope in the fact that Russian leaders very clearly saw NATO deliberately targeting NON Russian assets. The hope is that this will clearly show NATO is NOT trying to start a war with Russia as many in Russia have feared.
What is needed now is less rhetoric and for both sides to rebuild some kind of working relationship to enable the peaceful withdrawal of both American and Russian forces from Syria (including any and all other NON Syrian fighters) and let Russia and the US workout a viable peace deal.
This war needs to come to a close while preventing any re-emergence of ISIS in Syria.
