Tesla and SpaceX are not your average companies. These days, most Fortune 500’s are motivated by an obsession of satisfying shareholders demands and meeting short term goals and quarterly profit. Elon Musk has a different view.. every day he shapes SpaceX, Tesla and Solar City to change the world by exceeding the expectations of their customers.
Elon Musk has created a team in each of his companies to change the world, to change the way people think about what is possible and they do that by building a product that is so good, that it changes perceptions and gains the trust of millions of consumers. Elon has mastered the ability to dream out loud and say to the planet, we can do this and here is how. The whole point of each product is to fulfill that promise to instill a faith so powerful, that nearly half a million consumers will line up and plunk down a couple thousand dollars to reserve a vehicle they have never even driven. That is the kind of faith and trust Elon and his team have built into their brand
Once the promise of a dream and a goal is fulfilled in a product design, that trust is carefully guarded in production, so that when a product like a Model 3 or a solar roof tile is not working the way it was designed, you push back the release date or you slow production until it does. If a rocket is sitting on a test stand or on a launch pad and something is not right, then you do not test and you do not launch until it fully conforms to every safety and launch criteria it was intended to.
That rigorous dedication and adherence to such high standards is bringing forward the old fashioned belief that doing something well has its own rewards. That is why consumers trust Elon Musk and his team despite delays, because in the end they know they are getting what they always wanted, faith delivered.
