White House Trying to Gut Renewable Energy Budget Over 70%

According to a report in The Washington Post, the White House will seek to slash over 70% of the budget for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency programs in the Energy Department, for fiscal year 2019. The last time the White House attempted to cut the budget for those programs, Congress intervened and prevented the cuts from materializing.

This is a rather blunt reminder that the Trump administration remains wholly focused on fossil fuels to power our economy, rather than clean, renewable sources that are difficult to monopolize.

If President Trump is so concerned about budget cutting, why not ditch the subsidy the fossil fuel industry receives, estimated to be $4.6 billion per year, according to an estimate in 2015 by the Obama administration.
