According to the LA Times, Bob Lutz is encouraging people to buy a Model S while they are still available. The outspoken former Ford-Chrysler-GM exec and industry icon, is convinced that Tesla’s perpetual cash burn will, at some point put the company out of business.
Bob Lutz has had a pivotal impact on the auto industry, having helped to literally shape the big 3, (and BMW). Lutz worked with Bob Eaton and Lee Iaccoca to bring Chrysler back to profitability (TWICE), had a hand in the development of the BMW 3 series, the Dodge Viper, the Ford Explorer, the Saturn Sky, Pontiac Solstice and the Chevy Volt. While Vice Chairman of Global Product Development at GM, Lutz famously stated that the electrification of the automobile is inevitable.
While Bob Lutz may be a legend of the auto industry, time will tell if his prediction about Tesla will come true.
